On Wednesday 21st August 2024, we held the first ever GMOTFW Big Day Out!
Destination: Great Yarmouth
With thanks to several local Norwich based businesses, we were able to take lots of local families on an epic adventure this week to a very sunny Great Yarmouth!
The day started off with us boarding a coach with our wonderful driver Angie from Sunbeams Coaches and setting off under a beautiful blue sky! Before we knew it (and after a fantastic coach singalong), we were on the beach building sandcastles!
The funding enabled us to take 68 parents and children along, to give families who may not have had the opportunity to have a summer holiday a great day out with their family.
The Lion and Herring Fish & Chip Shop on Trafalgar Street did a wonderful job of having us 68 fish & chip lunches ready to collect which were wheeled back to the beach in trollies ready for the families to enjoy!
Nothing compares to an ice cream treat on the beach so North Jetty Ice Creams served us all whippy ice creams with flakes, sauces and sprinkles – a perfect treat for the kids and the grown-ups too!
Families brough along their own blankets and games plus we had a large haul of buckets and spades kindly donated by Tesco Express in Hellesdon. The kids (and some of the grown ups too) loved getting creative with their builds.
Some families also took advantage of a special group rate which was offered to us on wristbands for Great Yarmouth Pleasure Beach – thank you to the team for your kindness.
We had such a wonderful day!
